HOMMELL BERLINETTE
ÉCHAPPEMENT

The authentic FRENCH GT

The history of Hommell is closely linked to its founder, Michel Hommell, a passionate automobile enthusiast and publisher of the famous magazine Échappement. Since the 1970s, he had admired lightweight, sporty cars inspired by the spirit of Alpine and Lotus. His dream? To create a French sports car without compromise, dedicated to purists and driving enthusiasts.

In 1990, he took the plunge and founded Hommell Automobiles, with the goal of developing a sports car as agile as a race car, but road-legal. The first Hommell Berlinette was unveiled in 1994 after several years of development and intensive testing. Manufactured in the Lohéac workshop, in the heart of Michel Hommell’s automobile museum, the car was built almost entirely by hand, with an attention to detail and performance focus rarely seen in limited-production models.

Clubsport FEATURES

Uniquely in the history of motoring, Michel Hommell sought the views of his readers in designing this car.

As founder of Échappement magazine, he had a community of motorsport enthusiasts at his disposal, whose feedback and expectations he took into account in shaping the Berlinette. The result is a car tailor-made for purists, with lightness, agility and driving pleasure above all else. The car’s design was based on a rigid tubular chassis, covered with a composite body to minimize weight while ensuring excellent durability. Unlike many modern sports cars equipped with electronic assists, the Hommell Berlinette prioritized mechanical purity : no ABS, no driving aids, just a perfectly balanced chassis, precise steering, and excellent traction. A true return to the fundamentals of driving.
